Planning permission and the project
| Below is a copy of the initial letter we sent to the planning authority. It was intended that they would have it on their desk on the first working day after we moved onto the woodland. We delivered it by hand to their offices on Tuesday 25th April. |

Development Control Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to you on behalf of Affinity Woodland Workers Cooperative, which has recently purchased a part of Steward Wood, near Moretonhampstead. We are setting up a new community project at the woodland (a leaflet explaining the project is enclosed). We would be grateful if you could provide some advice on our plans prior to our submission of a planning application. We are certain that our project will make a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the National Park. We believe that through negotiation it will be possible to arrive at solutions which satisfy our needs, the needs of the local community and economy, and which address any local concerns. Working in partnership with the Authority, we hope to produce the most appropriate planning application, while creating a project for the benefit of local people, wildlife and the environment. To aid us in drawing up our Management and Biodiversity Action Plans, we have commissioned a series of surveys. We are also consulting other appropriate agencies and local groups for their comments about the plans. We have delivered leaflets about the project to all households in Moretonhampstead as well as sending letters to the immediate neighbours, informing them about the project and inviting their involvement. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future. |
