Steward Community Woodland
Affinity Woodland Workers Diary - April 2002
| Our friend Natalie
again braved our bookkeeping to sort out our accounts for the year, and
handed it over to Merlin to complete, with a new more efficient system.
The gardening visitors' weekend was well attended, and the growing area was dug and sown and generally fussed over. We had a visit from Bristol Permaculture Group, who were keen to look around. Work in the growing area has become our main focus now the green season is upon us, and our plans for a larger, more integrated growing area are becoming an earthy reality, with cold frames, crop rotation, perennial beds and much wider paths. In the lead up to our Second Anniversary celebrations we had a sweat lodge and shamanic journey. The climax of the festivities was our party on the 27th ,which was a cosy affair in the longhouse - it was raining - although some people were also tempted out to the hot tub. We did some recording for the ever-imminent benefit CD, with some very live versions of songs from Pete, Devin, Cheryll, Clare and Charlie competing with the background noises. The party was particularly well attended by newborn babies, as the CD will attest. The second Moreton's Moot, on war and conflict, was a facilitated discussion on the so called 'war on terrorism' and its affect on Islamic communities, this time followed by both biscuits and tea. |
