WOODWALK -Theatre in the woods
|
Artists from Dartington College of Arts, Eve Houston and Natasha Machin experienced life at Steward Wood for six weeks in Autumn 2003 as part of a site specific module for their courses. Their role as artists in residence was a great experience for both artists and the members of the community. They lived and worked with us in the woods to find inspiration for a performance event, which was held at the end of November. Their work was focused on the woodland walk to the west of the woodland, and they have left us with new ways of seeing and being in the woods, as well as a book of activities people can do as they walk around the woods, ranging from writing letters to animals to being in two places at once... The event weekend was a bit wet and windy, but lots of people braved the weather to come to one of the four organised walks, each followed by a meal or snack in the forest school shelter under the Norway Spruce trees.
